You will need your Employee Discount card to claim discounts. Since Sam’s Club is a Walmart division, their associates will get a free Sam’s Club membership instead of a Walmart discount.

Eligibility for Walmart Employee Discount Card
You’ll need your employee discount card while making your purchase from Walmart. But you’ll first have to complete a continuous 90 days of employment to get this card.
After this, you’ll be eligible to claim your employee discount card. Note the following things about this card.
- You don’t have to pay or enroll for your employee discount card. Walmart will mail the card directly to your address.
- Give your accurate mailing address to your manager, otherwise, your card may be delayed.
Can My Family Members Use the Walmart Discount?
Not everyone in your family. Only you and some eligible individuals in your family can use the Walmart employee discount. Specifically, you, your legal spouse/domestic partner, and your legal dependents (your children) can use the discount card.
Can My Friends Use the Employee Discount Card?
Walmart prohibits its employees from lending their cards to anyone other than their spouse or children. This means your friends or other family members are not eligible for employee discounts.
Exclusions to the Employee Discounts At Walmart
The only eligible items are regular-priced general merchandise, fresh produce, fruits, and vegetables. Any sale, clearance, marked-down items, groceries (except fresh produce), and gasoline don’t qualify for the Walmart employee discount.
Besides these, Walmart.com’s marketplace items, digital albums/tracks, and gift cards are also not eligible for the discount.
Can My Children Use the Employee Discount?
Yes. Eligible dependents in your family can use your Walmart employee discount card for their own purchases. An eligible dependent for a Walmart discount can only be
- An unmarried child who’s not older than 19 years
- An unmarried child who’s not older than 22 years and he/she is a full-time college student.
Note – Walmart does not issue individual discount cards to dependent children.
What If I Need to Update My Marital Status?
You can get a discount card for your new spouse by submitting an Online Discount Card Application on WalmartOne.com or WIRE.
In case you recently got divorced, your ex-spouses won’t be eligible for the discount. You need to cancel their card through an online application.
Seasonal Discounts For Walmart Employees
Although there isn’t much information on the official website, there are several claims that suggest better Walmart employee discounts during the Christmas holiday.
This sale includes many items except milk, alcohol, and cigarettes. It starts after Black Friday and continues until January 1st.
